We’re seeking a People Operations Manager with an automation mindset to help us scale the right way.
Over the past few years, our team has more than doubled, we’re now around 60 people and on track to exceed 100 in the coming years. With that growth comes the challenge we care most about: preserving the culture that got us here.
At Feather, we believe in ownership, trust, and autonomy. These values aren’t just words. They shape how we work. As we scale, we want to reinforce them, not dilute them. That’s where you come in.
If you love streamlining processes, building scalable systems, and taking initiative, you’ll feel right at home here.
Why work at Feather?
- Small team, flat hierarchy, and mission-driven. The usual buzzwords here, except we mean them. We’re small, lean, and we love what we're doing.
- €1,200 annual learning budget. You can spend this time educating yourself through books, conferences, classes, etc.
- €500 office furnishing budget. On top of all the company equipment that you'll be getting (MacBook, monitor…), you'll be able to spend €500 on a nice and comfortable home office setup.
- 4-month sabbatical. After 4 years at Feather, you can take 4 months off, with financial support from us, to do whatever energizes you: travel the world, write a book, volunteer, or just unwind.
- Flexible remote work policy. We offer a remote-first work environment with an office in Berlin. We host regular company retreats, team dinners, and meetups to gather with your colleagues. For this role, you’ll be based in Berlin and expected to work primarily from the office, with some flexibility for remote work.
What you will do
Think of this list as a conversation starter. We’re counting on you to bring your experience and insights to shape how we do People Operations moving forward.
Maintain and automate all things people-related
We already have many great processes in place that you will take over and oversee.
- Administrative operations: Manage contracts, benefits, payroll, remote work logistics…
- Process ownership: Oversee and refine workflows such as company reimbursements, learning budget allocations, etc.
- Onboarding and offboarding: Manage smooth transitions for new joiners and leavers.
- Recruitment operations: Help managers run a smooth recruitment process.
- Employee engagement: Perform quarterly employee surveys.
At Feather, we love automating mundane tasks, which will help you do most of these tasks on autopilot.
Office management and in-person events organization
We’re a remote-first company with an office in Berlin. For this role, you must be based in Berlin and work from the office regularly. While we deeply value the flexibility of remote work, we also believe that some things, like building strong relationships and team culture, are best nurtured in person.
That’s why we organize regular in-person moments throughout the year, including retreats, team dinners, and off-site gatherings. You’ll play a key role in planning and coordinating these events.
- Organize a company retreat once or twice a year.
- Do office management. Ensure the office has all the necessary equipment (printing paper, drinks, coffee, etc.). Coordinate cleaning, process post, invoices, etc.
- Create a great office environment. We recently moved into a new office space, and we’d love you to help us set it up in a welcoming way.
Build and maintain a strong culture and employer brand
Help us attract top talent by spreading the word about Feather as an employer. This includes:
- Promote the company’s core values and culture: Shipping fast and iterating while fostering a work environment based on ownership, trust, and autonomy.
- Help us write content for our company blog, and find opportunities within the company to write content.
- Own the career page, regularly update it, and promote how we work at Feather.
Your profile
- Bilingual communication. You are fluent in both German and English.
- Location requirement. Must be based or willing to relocate to Berlin. This role requires an on-site presence to perform ad-hoc administrative tasks and office management.
- Experience. You’ve worked across HR, recruiting, ops, or admin roles
- Bonus: You’ve helped shape and scale a team in a startup or remote-first environment
- You have a high-agency profile.
- You are proactive: you don’t wait for permission to solve a problem.
- You have an ownership mindset: you take full responsibility for the outcome, not just the task.
- You are resourceful: you find creative ways to get things done, even with limited tools, time, or support.
- You have a bias for action: You prefer moving forward, even with an imperfect first draft, rather than getting stuck in analysis paralysis.
- Automation mindset. You think in systems, enjoy automating workflows, and use automation tools (Excel, Zapier, Slack, Google Sheets, n8n…) to save time and get rid of repetitive tasks.

About us
Feather was founded in 2018 by Rob Schumacher and Vincent Audoire after both of them struggled to navigate the insurance system in Germany (even though they are European). They wanted to create insurance products that were as simple as they knew it could be.
That’s why we’re building insurance to make all interactions easier and more transparent: from signing up and filing a claim to canceling. Our goal is to give people honest, unbiased advice, with the information they need to make the right decision. And, because of how complicated insurance is, we offer tools, articles, and support where people can reach out to a human about problems or questions they have.
Currently, Feather has helped people from over 150 countries get insurance digitally and is expanding quickly.
