Why getting into the public health system in France?
- Being in Sécurité Sociale lowers your healthcare costs, gives you a French SSN for reimbursements.
- Pre-existing conditions are covered by the public system.
- Once you’re registered, the public system typically reimburses about 70% of GP and many radiology visits, 60% of nursing care, physiotherapy, and most lab tests, and 15%–65% of medications, depending on category.
- A mutuelle covers most or all of the rest.
