Car insurance in Spain

Yes. We cover driving licences from any country. Even though international driving permits are usually only valid for one year, we can still cover you while you’re in the process of converting your licence to a local one.

Yes. We cover foreign and temporary plates, as well as Spanish-registered cars. That means you’re covered whether you’re a long-term resident bringing your car for the summer, an expat visiting Spain short-term, or importing a vehicle and waiting for Spanish registration.

Most insurers don’t carry your driving history across borders, so you start from zero. We do things differently: in our 2-minute quoting process, we assess you as a driver and price your policy as if you’d been driving in Spain your whole life — which can mean savings of up to 60%.

You can authorise occasional additional drivers (like family or friends visiting you in Spain) who are over 25 and have at least 2 years of driving experience — without registering them as usual. All guarantees apply, except legal defence and driver accident cover, which require adding them as named additional drivers.

Long-term plan (Spanish plates)

You’re covered across the European Union, plus Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Gibraltar, Andorra and Monaco. Roadside assistance and personal liability also extend to the United Kingdom and all Green Card countries across Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Short-term plan (foreign or temporary plates)

You’re always covered in Spain. Before your car first enters Spain, you’re covered across the European Union, the United Kingdom, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Gibraltar, Andorra, Monaco and all Green Card countries across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Once the car enters Spain, cover applies in Spain only.
