User Researcher

You’re probably sitting there, thinking: Am I about to apply for a job in insurance? We know what it sounds like, which is why we need your help to change it.

We’re in the process of rebranding the industry’s reputation and how users think about its products. In essence, insurance is a group of people pooling money together to ensure they’re protected against harm, which is why it’s so important.

We’ll need your help to build the processes and the user research team. The best part? Our customers already love us, so you’ll help us raise the bar of user experience rather than simply fix existing problems.

You'll be responsible for

  • Establishing a user research strategy and practices for Feather
  • Being the voice of the user, and helping us spot the gaps in our knowledge as well as assumptions that need to be validated
  • Planning and conducting qualitative and quantitative research (e.g. concept and usability testing, brand perception interviews, digital surveys)
  • Sharing the core insights with the rest of the team
  • Working closely with designers and product managers on problem discovery, ideation, and validation of the desirability, usability, and viability of the product concepts
  • Collaborating with the customer success team to actively collect insights and help us incorporate them into the product and processes

What you bring to the table

  • 4+ years of experience in user research in a product development related field
  • A strong understanding of qualitative research methods and experience designing research plans (which methods to use and why, how to recruit, how to avoid biases, and how to analyze results)
  • Track record of your research having a positive impact on product decisions
  • Business mentality and prioritization based on company goals
  • Ability to shift between rigorous methodologies and quick-and-dirty execution
  • A desire to build a better world through a deeper understanding of what people actually want and need

  • €1,200 annual learning budget. You can spend this on educating yourself: books, conferences, classes, etc.
  • €500 office furnishing budget. On top of all the company equipment that you'll be getting (MacBook, Monitor…), you'll be able to spend €500 on a nice and comfortable home office setup.

What will the interview process look like?

  1. Portfolio review — We'll have a chat over Google Meet, ask you a few questions about your research experience, and go through a project you've worked on
  2. Research plan — We’ll jump on a second call where your task will be to come up with a research plan for a specific problem so we can better understand how you think
  3. Chat with the founders — You'll be speaking to one of our founders
